Roeno Winery – The Story of a Family

ROENO WINERY: THE STORY OF A FAMILY
For three generations, Roeno has been dedicated to viticulture in the Valdadige — a narrow stretch of land along the banks of the river of the same name, nestled between Monte Baldo and the Lessinia Plateau. In this so-called Terradeiforti, the Fugatti family has found its home — a borderland blessed with ideal climatic conditions, perfect for producing distinctive, aromatic wines that embody the company’s core values: love for the land, hospitality, and respect for nature.
ROENO WINERY: THE STORY OF A FAMILY
In Brentino Belluno, in the hamlet of Belluno Veronese, the winery was founded by Rolando Fugatti and his wife, Giuliana dal Fior. For over 50 years, Roeno has told a story of passion and dedication to a rich and unique land, stretching between the province of Verona and the Autonomous Province of Trento.
The story begins with a simple acronym combining “ro,” inspired by the founder Rolando, and “enos,” the Greek word for wine and oenology. A story that continues thanks to the commitment of the second generation — Roberta, Cristina, and Giuseppe — who successfully combined wine tourism with vine cultivation and winemaking.
Roeno today encompasses a winery, a farmhouse, and an inn — welcoming places where guests can enjoy traditional Trentino-Veronese dishes paired with an excellent wine list.
Stretching north toward Trentino–Alto Adige and south toward the Veronese and Bardolino areas, Roeno Winery carries forward family values and age-old traditions expressed in outstanding wines that draw inspiration from the wisdom of the past while charting new, unexplored oenological paths.
“Never stop. Experiment and dare.” — this is the guiding principle of the Fugatti family, innovating without losing sight of their roots, always looking ahead for new challenges and opportunities.
Today, Roeno Winery relies on a skilled and highly qualified team:
Giuseppe Fugatti, Production Director; Alessandro Corazzola and Mirko Maccani, Winemakers; Roberta Fugatti, Guest Relations; Sabrina Francesconi, Hospitality Manager; Cristina Fugatti, Sales Director; Luca D’Arcano, Sales Manager; and Martina Centa, Head of Marketing and Communications.
Passion for viticulture and a flourishing, diverse terroir give rise to superb vineyards that find their fullest expression in the Terradeiforti. Thanks to silt-sandy soils on one side, pebbly areas along the banks of the Adige on another, and clay- and limestone-rich lands elsewhere, the vines thrive and produce aromatic grapes ideal for wines of character.
ENANTIO — THE OENOLOGICAL GEM OF THE TERRADEIFORTI
“La brusca: hoc est vitis silvestris, quod vocatur oenanthium.” — these are the words of the Roman historian Pliny the Elder in his Naturalis Historia, referring to wild and cultivated vines and mentioning, for the first time, the Enantio grape variety.
Although its origins date back to the 1st century A.D., until a few decades ago these grapes were mistakenly classified among the Lambrusco family and known as “Lambrusco a foglia frastagliata.” It was only in 1991 that a project was launched to enhance this native Trentino variety, leading to its official inclusion in the National Register of Wine Grape Varieties the following year.
Longevity, strength, and resilience have always characterized Enantio. Roeno Winery has harnessed these traits to produce two outstanding, deep ruby-red wines: Enantio Terradeiforti DOC and Enantio Riserva 1865 Prefillossera.
Intense and complex, offering a broad range of sensations that move from the sweet-tart notes of wild berries to the spicy aromas of incense and tobacco, Enantio Terradeiforti DOC captivates the palate with its persistence and perfect balance between acidity and tannic texture. To achieve such excellence, Roeno meticulously oversees every step of the winemaking process — from hand harvesting to fermentation for over 15 months in French oak barriques, followed by 5 months of bottle aging.
This remarkable grape, extremely long-lived and hardy, reaches its highest expression in Enantio Riserva 1865 Prefillossera. The year 1865 represents the average age of these century-old vineyards, while “Prefillossera” refers to the phylloxera pest that arrived in Europe in the late 1800s — successfully avoided thanks to the sandy soils that prevent its spread.
Selected grapes from these ancient vines yield a sublime wine with a deep, layered bouquet — spicy hints of black pepper and cloves intertwined with notes of wild berries, tobacco, and licorice. Powerful yet elegant on the palate, Enantio Riserva 1865 Prefillossera offers ever-evolving aromas supported by a complex tannic structure.
A sublime wine that tells the story of a land — and of a family.
Tenuta Carretta

Tenuta Carretta is located in the south of Piedmont, in Piobesi d’Alba, in Roero. It is a winery with a rich story, one of the most historic Italian wineries where past, present and future are integrated in the best way.
The Estate is located in the Roero, north of the Tanaro River and the city of Alba. The territory emerged from the sea a”er the Langhe during the Ter$ary Pliocene era. Here, the soil is sandstone, or sedimentary rocks derived from the compac$on of sand. This gives the land an overall so”ness and excellent permeability.
The interac$on of the soil, microclimate, and vine varie$es, together with the limited quan$ty of grapes produced per hectare, give this area’s wine unique characteris$cs. Sandier soils produce aroma$c, elegant wines; where the sands mix with calcareous marl, the wines gain greater austerity.
Tenuta Carre a produces its wines exclusively from grapes harvested from its vineyard proper$es. In the cellar, the objec$ve is to transfer the balance and harmony naturally found in the vineyards to the bo le.
Today, the winery offers a range of products from the Classic (tradi$onal) to the Crowns line (versa$le and best-selling) to the premium Reserve wines as the library collec$on of Barolo Cannubi Riserva (only 1260 bo les each vintage) that represent the uniqueness, the elegance and the pres$ge of the winery.
With reference to “The Classics” range of wines, it is about everyday and tradi$onal white and red wines, with great drinkability and pleasantness.
With the arrival of the new vintages, the winery has introduced a restyling of the labels that is very important for them: they have taken back one of the labels from their past, which represents the pres$ge and the historical importance of the estate. This choice further iden$fies Tenuta Carre a as one of the most historic and pres$gious wineries in Piedmont, expression of tradi$on and elegance.
The wines under this range are Gavi DOCG, Piemonte DOC Chardonnay, Dolce o d’Alba DOC, Barbera d’Alba DOC, Piemonte DOC Barbera, Nebbiolo d’ Alba DOC and Moscato d’As$ DOCG.
Malgrà

Malgrà winery works combining the natural voca3on of the land his own sensibility and experience, crea3ng wines that are fruit of a faithful interpreta3on of the land and the grape which expresses the essence, but also a result of innova3ve and courageous decisions.
The vineyards of Malgrà are mostly located within the municipality of Nizza Monferrato, the centre of the As3 Monferrato area. At present, they stretch for about 40 hectares and are mostly clustered around a hilly ridge that represents the heart of the produc3on of Nizza DOCG.
The soils of Monferrato have a prevalence of calcareous clays and sand. The different vi3cultural voca3on comes mainly from the general clima3c condi3ons, which are colder and drier. Here the Barbera grape has found a home: it is the main variety of Monferrato, origina3ng from property vineyards and vinified into several single vineyards in the heart of the Nizza DOCG area.
A vine of good vigor, it has remarkable fer3lity, even at basal bud level, with high and constant produc3vity and the ability to adapt to various forms of training and pruning. From an oenological point of view, it is also characterized by great duc3lity: its grapes, well endowed with acidity and anthocyanins and low in tannin, are used in a wide range of wines, from ready-to-drink as well as long aging and important.
Malgrà Nizza DOCG Gaiana is a great expression of the Monferrato wine district and of the Barbera grape The “Gaiana” vineyard is located in Mombaruzzo on the right bank of the Belbo river at 150 m above sea level.
The vineyards cover about 5 hectares of land, and they benefit from perfect sun exposure. “Gaiana” is one of the most representa3ve wines of Malgrà: its smooth flavour and elegance are enriched with its ample bouquet, which matures aBer 12 months of aging in wood.
A wine with a full body, this Nizza is rich and warm, with an aCrac3ve intense ruby red colour with purple hues and an ample and complex aroma, with notes of wild berries, cherries, vanilla, coffee beans, and cacao.
BEVICI SU’

Malgrà starts with the letter B.
Might not be the first in class, but the one you want to spend all your afternoons with.
It has the B of Barbera, the main variety of Monferrato, originating from property vineyards and vinified into several single vineyards in the heart of the Nizza DOCG area.
The B of Bubbles, traditional and Martinotti – Charmat methods, bringing the great Piedmontese sparkling wine tradition to everyday tables.
And also, the B of BEVICISÙ, which rediscovers the lively taste of wine in a fun, genuine and authentic way.
BEVICISÙ expresses conviviality, sharing, stories, friendship, happiness, pleasure, and—above all—the desire to be together. The idea is to combine great quality wine with Piedmontese traditions: Piemonte DOC Barbera, Piemonte DOC Viognier-Sauvignon and Piemonte DOC Rosato.
The choice to use large format Magnums, called Pintun in Piedmontese, and 0,75 Lt. botles is another symbol of sharing and drinking in good company, following the long-held traditons of the Piedmontese people when families and friends happily passed the tme together at the table.
This range of wines is composed by 3 wines:
Piemonte DOC Barbera: the frst born in the Bevicisù family. After the Barbera grapes are harvested, they are destemmed and crushed. Must and skins undergo a pre-fermentaton cold maceraton to extract the aromas and fruity flavours. Alcoholic fermentaton is developed at approximately 25°C to preserve freshness and acidity and is then followed by the malolactc fermentaton. The wine is then aged for 6 months in stainless steel tanks for 6 months.
The result is a very pleasant everyday wine, with intense aromas of ripe fruit and black cherry, with a light spicy note. In the mouth it is mellow, pleasantly velvety and harmonious
Piemonte DOC Rosato: 100% Barbera grape harvested in the Monferrato property vineyards. It has an appealing light powder pink colour thanks to the very short maceraton of the skins and a great aroma of fowers, red currant and a spicy note. In the mouth, it is sapid, harmonious and smooth.
Piemonte DOC Viognier-Sauvignon: it is a very balanced blend of Viognier and Sauvignon with a very nice straw yellow colour with golden hints. The aroma is intense, with notes of fowers and tropical fruit. In the mouth it is dry and fresh, with a pleasant sapid touch.
Bonfante & Chiarle

“In the Monferrato, land of abundant Barbera, we cultivate our passion: making great wines”
This statement by Giorgio Chiarle, soul of the Bonfante & Chiarle winery, speaks volumes about the company’s main goals: bring in the bottle, store and transmit intact to the glass the balance and harmony of the raw material obtained in the vineyard.
Bonfante & Chiarle was founded 1908 in Mombaruzzo, but its present structure was finalized in 1975 thanks to Luciano Chiarle, Giorgio Chiarle and Domenico Bonfante, following in the footsteps of their fathers and their grandfathers before them, who were all dedicated winemakers that have lived for this passion.
Thus, Bonfante & Chiarle has continued this entrepreneurial tradition in the Monferrato hills through a venture that aimed at promoting a new kind of development based on the relationship with the territory and the passion for excellent and certified wine.
Continuous investments allow to Bonfante & Chiarle to introduce to the market with pair Tradition/vineyard and Technology to establish production in respect of experience, but with contemporary forecast and in step with customer tastes and his increasing oenological knowledge.
Therefore, Bonfante & Chiarle offers a perfect Langa and Monferrato wine selection and shows out- and-out peculiarity. Today, Bonfante & Chiarle is part of Miroglio family properties, a project of men and territory, that shoots for continuous research of quality.
Bonfante & Chiarle Moscato d’Asti DOCG “Dosman” embodies the essence of the Monferrato tradition and territory right from the name, which in the Piedmontese dialect means sweetly, gently, lovingly.
In Piedmont, Moscato Bianco grapes are witnesses of centuries of history and those that come from the vineyard that produces “Dosman” are excellent for producing high quality wines. The slow fermentation, carried out at low temperatures, is halted when the must reaches 5.5% of alcohol content, producing a wine that perfectly expresses the aroma, freshness and characteristics of the grape of origin.
Thanks to the rapid vinification process, “Dosman” new 2024 vintage will be available as early as the next few months to delight you with its fresh aroma, characterized by the typical notes of white flowers, lemon, sage and ginger.
Cheers!
